Thomas Knight Speaks! 2008-12-03

We have created a new blog where Thomas Knight speaks his mind on politics, religion, and everything else. He frankly doesn't care if you agree with him, but check it out anyway at http://theboosthead.blogspot.com! If you're as opinionated as he is, you can even jump into the fray yourself!

Street Concepts tests ESC 2004-06-10

Last month we sent an ESC™ to Street Concepts Magazine to install on a Ranger 2.5L 4-cyl show vehicle. You won't believe what they got from that truck! On a stock engine with headers, 3" exhaust, ECU modifications, and electric supercharger @ 6 psi, they took the Ranger from 122 stock whp to 223 whp! Afterwards, the batteries were able provide additional runs off the dyno. Street Concepts' technicians were absolutely blown away by those numbers, so look for a feature article on the ESC™ in the August 2004 issue.

Altima runs 14's at Moroso 2004-05-24

Moroso Motorsports Park held a Friday night Test & Tune on 4/23, so we went to test the auto trans Altima (still bone stock) running a safe 8 PSI. On our last visit to Moroso we unknowingly ran with a blown hose, so this time we were able to make the elusive 14'S we had expected in February. We ran a 14.57 @ 91 MPH, beating a stock 5.0 Mustang, a SS 454 Chevy truck, and a 5.9 Dodge truck (all 14-second vehicles). A few of you might think 14'S is no big deal, but tell that to the V8 guys we spanked last night with our ESC-supercharged bone stock ricer!

ESC in Turbo Magazine 2004-05-24

As promised in our February 9th update, the June 2004 issue of Turbo Magazine features a two-page article on our awesome ESC-400, complete with pictures, dynos, and the story of how we built the first real electric supercharger. The skeptics have gotten awfully quiet lately...

ESC-400™ runs the 1/4-mile at Moroso 2003-12-22

Moroso Motorsport Park was home this weekend to the Sport Compact Winter Challange, and we took the Altima to MMP to test the ESC for 1/4 mile use. The weight of the car with speaker box, molded body kit, ESC-400 and batteries, etc was 3780lb. The bone stock KADE 2.4 liter 4-cyl automatic ran 18.30's @ 78 mph with the ESC by-passed, and ran a best 15.583 @ 89mph at only 5 psi boost. Traction with the ESC was a real problem with 2.35 60ft times on four attempts.

Altima & Ranger Dynos 2003-12-11

Well, the good news is that our Nissan Altima 4-CYL yielded three awesome runs in a row, climbing from a 105HP max stock to a 184HP peak with the ESC-400™ (70HP avg. HP). All three were nearly identical, which proves the consistency of our system. The bad news is that due to a tragic mid-run solenoid failure, our Ford Ranger 2.5L 4-CYL immediately fell from its initial 80HP spike to a 30-40HP run at 4PSI untuned. The Electric Supercharger just wasn't getting enough current. Seems we got our hands on some bad solenoids, which was frustrating given the great start. We will replace the relays on the Ranger ASAP and hope to have it back on the dyno next week.

ESC on Nissan Altima 2003-12-07

On Saturday we finished the ESC-400™ installation on our Nissan Altima 4-CYL, and man, this thing SMOKES! We're burning the tires all the way through 1st gear on an auto-trans, 4,000LB slug. We're scheduling dynos ASAP and can't wait to see the results.
